What is AdBlue®?

Restrictive emission regulations have forced truck manufacturers to introduce systems that reduce the emission of polluting gases. Among other things, this has led to the development of an effective SCR system based on AdBlue®. Unfortunately, it soon became apparent that while this solution delivers fantastic results, it is also prone to malfunction. The high cost of repairs means that drivers are keen to use solutions such as an SCR emulator.

What is AdBlue®?

AdBlue® is a trademark belonging to the Verband der Automobilindustrie. It is a high purity aqueous solution of urea. When introduced into the exhaust system, it cleans the exhaust gases. The product is used as a reducer to break down in the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) catalyst environmentally harmful nitrogen oxides into harmless water vapour and nitrogen. The reduction takes place through a nozzle, which injects the urea solution into the exhaust system. The use of AdBlue® makes it possible to meet the Euro 4, Euro 5 and Euro 6 emission standards set by the European Union for vehicles above 3.5 tonnes. Substances such as nitrogen oxides (Nox), particulate matter (PM), hydrocarbon (HC), and carbon oxides (CO) are subject to the regulations.
